Talking business with the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority today: we sat down with Boudewijn Siemons to discuss the enormous contribution of the port of Rotterdam to climate change.

Together with a group of young people, we called upon the Port Authority to take control of the polluting fossil activities in the port and come up with a clear and concrete phase-out plan.

The discussion focused on the key question: Should the Port Authority continue to facilitate fossil activities in the port until demand declines, or should it take immediate action and present a clear and concrete pathway towards a non-fossil port?

Our message to the CEO could not have been any clearer: Stop following the fossil industry and start leading towards the port of the future. The climate crisis is now. Our future is now. We need to act...NOW.
